Tell Your Elected Officials to Consider Monorail!
There's a lot of transportation planning going on right now in King County, but no one is looking at monorail as a way to get us moving fast, up above our traffic jams. We've put this resolution together to show our elected officials how many people want to see monorail included as an option.

Resolution
FOR INCLUDING MONORAIL IN REGIONAL PLANNING
WHEREAS,
Voters want more transportation choices, and want an integrated, multi-modal regional transportation system,
Planning for our regional transportation system should consider all options for major corridors, including highways, heavy rail, light rail, bus, van pools, HOV and monorail;
Monorail on elevated right of way, above traffic, may present advantages such as faster trips; more reliable travel; less or no tunneling; less utilization and obstruction of surface right of ways; greater safety; lower capital and operating costs; fewer environmental impacts; less noise; ability to use public right of way, and less taking of private property.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT
All authorities involved in regional transportation should include and consider monorail along with other options for all major corridors, and, in evaluating alternative modes for different corridors, should consider among other factors trip times and reliability; safety; capacity; cost to build; potential automation and lower operating cost; construction time; noise; visual impacts; and opportunity to build in public right-of-way, using less land and taking less property, avoiding tunneling, and/or preserving lanes below for other traffic, transit, cycling or pedestrian use.
